This week in gaming saw augmented reality mobile game developer Niantic undergoing significant layoffs and project cancellations to shift its focus towards smash hit, Pokémon GO, while Blizzard Entertainment’s trade show, BlizzCon, returns in-person after four years with tickets starting at USD$300.

In the realm of announcements, gamers and 2000s Nickelodeon fans rejoice as the game trailer for ‘Avatar: The Last Airbender - Quest for Balance’ drops, revealing a whole lot of new information about the new action-adventure title featuring Aang and the original team. Additionally, Ubisoft has announced that Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag is set to receive a remake, whilst the developer’s other pirate-themed game, “Skull and Bones”, remains in development with no news on its release.

Finally, in general gaming and community news, there was an attempted boycott against Call of Duty after Activision Blizzard removed a gun skin bundle from the game in the name of LGBTQ+ inclusion and safety. Luckily, it seems as if the attempted boycott was just that, an attempt.
